WALK THE TALK

DON’T JUDGE THE DOCTOR BY HIS WEIGHT... FORUM dd 15th Jul 2010

Interesting topic that I read about in today’s paper. The remark jolted my memory , immediately my mind zoomed in to an incident some month back at the doctor’s office ( nutrinionist I mean ) . I was there because my daughter has to see her for weight management issues. Nevermind that , I think my daughther is doing well in that area cos she’s watching what she eats & when she eats and the rest. Well of course always room for improvement there…..So girl continue doing the god job , so proud of you !

Ok, lets continue ….so I walked in with my daugther and then , I was startled by the unexpected figure of both the doctor and the nurse . Who said I was looking for Noami Campbell’s figure?? I was not!! I am realistic !!
But I saw was not exactly the image I had in mind. Both nutrinionist and the nurse were equally overweight!! Talk to me about weight management !! … Errrrr before that , should we trade places, first then maybe some credential there haha.

Throughout the session , I am having such conflict in my mind , why don’t you put into practiCe what you preach ?? What’s wrong with the advice , is it not working for you ?? Is this diet a good programme a balanced programme , an effective program ?? Can we do this actually or is just a good powerpoint presentation ???
If the ideas you are promoting are congruent with your core beliefs and values, these actions will come easily, too. Model the behavior / change you want to see from others. There is nothing more powerful for children than observing the “PE teachers/ nutrinionist ” do the actions or behaviors they are requesting from others. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “Become the change you wish to see in the world." And, it will happen
